TECHNOLOGY MOVING TOO FAST?

Seems to me that all through out history technology of one kind or another created great opportunities for advancement and betterment of mankind. Even wars have had long lasting advantages in some cases.
Look at today.  The great advancements in banking and brokerage technology has far outpaced the ability of the average citizen to absorb it.  Highly sophisticated compute formulas have allowed intelligent traders to make money hand over fist and to keep making it with the further technology allowing the settlement of trades and the development of packaged investment vehicles.
Think about the super smart men and women who have the very sophisticated degrees in engineering, actuarial science, physics, etc. that have opted for Wall St. because 'THAT'S WHERE THE MONEY IS'?
Would the attention of these super bright folks to the development of new products, improvement in existing products, and the formation of new enterprises added more to our over all well being as against the value
added by their trading in securities.  I think the point of no return has been reach in the business value of  this sophisticated trading and that it's just settled into the category of 'GREED'.
We won't change it until it becomes less attractive to sit trading securities all day for money than it is to put that super knowledge back into the efforts and purposes for which it has always been intended.
Lack of knowledge of what the transactions mean and their transparency are basic to helping the average person catch up to the technology.
THINK ABOUT IT!
