SPEECH CRUTCHES

I admire actors.  It is amazing to me how they can memorize their lines, although even they have cribs and other devices to help them sometimes.  The more I think about it the more I realize that that is their business and their main responsibility.
Now, you can always admire a politician who is a gifted orator, and there have been many.  However,  I find it hard to criticize them if they read from a prepared manuscript or if they use a device like a teleprompter.  My feeling is that the politician's business is to serve the people providing the  proper tools for safety, budget management, and what ever is considered the government's responsibility to help with just good old living.  So, if the President feels he does not want to spend precious time memorizing speeches so as to have more time to spend on the important things, I have no objection.  Anyone that does is being somewhat sillly in my judgement.  They should stick to criticizing actors who are not learning their lines properly.
THINK ABOUT IT!
