HEALTH AND OLD AGE
Those of us who are lucky, have good genes, and have not completely laid waste to our natural body assets can certainly be thankful. In most cases however, dentistry is needed big time in old age. I was the victim of bad dentistry as a child and am paying a price now with bridges, plates, etc.
It occurred to me that implants at a young age, to replace the loss of any single tooth is an important investment in the future. It forstalls bone loss; acts as a permanent anchor for the present and provides a big advantage as you grow older to be used for many purposes. Putting in implants at an old age often requires bone grafts that take six or more months to take hold plus another six months for the tooth implant to take hold. I asked my dentist, Lubomir Manov D.D.S., what he thinks and his response was very positive. When I asked him about the down side his reply was that it is more expensive in the short run and in addition insurance companies are slow to embrace the idea, but in the long run he seems to say it is a "no brainer". I wish my dentist knew that when I was younger.
THINK ABOUT IT!
